A stretch-in installation is the method that we most commonly use to install residential carpet. We also use the stretch-in method for commercial carpet in relatively small spaces. The stretch-in method, as indicated by the name, incorporates stretching the carpet to fasten it tight to the floor. We anchor tack strip around the room's perimeter. We stretch the carpet hard toward the edges and onto the tacks of the tack strip. The tacks grip into the carpet's backing to hold the carpet tight. The stretch-in method always utilizes cushion under the carpet. The carpet must be stretched with heavy pressure to prevent wrinkles or ripples in the coming years. We create sufficient tension in the stretch using various tools: the knee kicker, the mini-power stretcher, the pole stretcher, and the deadman.
