A skew is a type of manufacturing defect in printed, tufted, or woven flooring. A skew defect is most commonly in sheet goods, such as broadloom carpet or sheet vinyl. When goods have a skew, the anticipated alignment of the pattern is off by a certain degree of angle. A minor skew can be corrected by a skillful installer. Although infrequent, a skew can also be created by a faulty installation.Related: bow defect and elongation defect.
