construction joint

A construction joint is a type of concrete joint.

"The surface where two successive placements of concrete meet, across which it may be desirable to achieve bond and through which reinforcement may be continuous."---American Concrete Institute

A construction joint may function as a control or isolation joint, but should permit only minor movement.

Special consideration must be given to construction joints when planning some types of flooring installations.
