The world is always changing. The economic principle of creative destruction is on display in the flooring industry. Creative destruction is when the economy is improved by the replacement of a less efficient company with a more efficient company.
In November 2017, Engineered Floors purchased Beaulieu America. Beaulieu America has one of our appreciated industry partner for years. Beaulieu America was started in 1978 and, over time, purchased Coronet, Columbus Mills, Marglen Industries, and Hollytex. Beaulieu, however, struggled for a long time and filed for bankruptcy in July 2017. Privately, a representative of another major manufacturer told us that Beaulieu was unlikely to last until the end of 2017. The rumor was true.
Just recently, we were honored to install the Aqua Hospitality carpet, a Beaulieu product, in a golf and country club. Gorgeous! We have been a confident promoter of J+J Flooring's and Bolyu's broadloom carpet, modular carpet, and LVT and plan to continue to do so. Engineered Floors will maintain J+J Flooring and Bolyu as ongoing brands and make full use of their robust solution-dyed yarn. Engineered Floors will subsume Bolyu's luxury vinyl tile (LVT) business.
In short, Engineered Floors simplified the description of their brands as follows:
- Dream Weaver: Residential Sector.
- Pentz: Mainstreet Retail / Commercial Sector.
- Dwelling: Builder Sector.
- Engineered Floors: Multi-family Sector.
Thank you, Beaulieu! Best wishes, Engineered Floors!
