Sometimes a relatively small area of the yarn has been permanently discolored or the carpet's structure has been physically damaged (e.g., dog chewing a hole).

Wolfe Flooring offers a wonderful solution to this unfortunate condition that can save you thousands of dollars. We can cut out and seam in a new piece -- a bonded insert. The bonded insert will have two, three or four sides depending on the location of the damaged area. A bleach spot in the corner of the room will have only two sides; while a furniture stain in the center of the room will have four sides. All sides have to be prepared inch-by-inch on the existing carpet and the inserted carpet. Therefore, a four sided, 12"x12" bonded insert will receive a total of 96 linear inches of painstaking preparation to ensure maximum aesthetic appeal.

We sometimes refer to the work as carpet surgery. Cosmetics are primarily determined by two factors: the degree of sun fading and the amount of wear to the yarn. If the new piece and the existing carpet are close in appearance, we can usually make an invisible repair. Literally, our customers often can not find where our work was performed.

When the existing carpet has faded a little or endured foot traffic, a bonded insert is usually still an improvement. And, over time, the insert will blend in with the existing carpet. (Carpet experiences an accelerated rate of deterioration at the beginning of its life; therefore, the new insert may blend in faster than you would imagine.)

If you're short on carpet, we can likely still solve your problem. Wolfe Flooring maintains an abundance of carpet remnants. With the homeowners' permission, we can take carpet from a closet or from under a stationary piece of furniture, use the piece from the closet to repair the originally damaged piece, and use our remnant for the closet. We will not be able to match the color of your existing carpets perfectly, but we do carry a broad variety. The permanently bonded insert will be ready for cleaning, foot traffic and power stretching within 10 minutes after we finish.

Open Seam Repair
Poor installations and damaging events can leave a home with trip hazards and obvious seams. We provide solutions. The hardest part of an installation is the seam work. What's harder than seam work on a installation is remaking existing seam work. The benefits for remaking existing seams are improved appeal, improved structural integrity and a tighter stretch to the carpet. To achieve excellence, we removed the existing seam tape, stretch the carpet tight together, prepare the edges inch-by-inch, and permanently bond the carpet back together. Wolfe Flooring uses top quality seam tape and heat the tape to just the right temperature, but not too hot which can cause "peaking" or warp the carpet backing. Our seams are ready for cleaning, foot traffic and power stretching within 10 minutes after we finish.

Power Stretch
Throughout the year we receive calls from frustrated homeowners and property managers that have noticed wrinkles developing in there carpet. Frequently, the wrinkles have developed within 18 months of the original installation due to a poor installation. Other causes of wrinkles include defective carpet backing, excessive foot traffic, excessive aging, dragging heavy furniture across the carpet or wheelchair traffic, expansion and contraction of wood subfloor, dislodging of the tucked edge for tile installations, pest control treatments and wire installations, and so on.

In the vast majority of cases, we can permanently solve the unsightly waves and increase the life of the carpet in the process and eliminate trip hazards. A tight stretch enables the carpet to retain its beauty longer.

Our professional technicians accomplish this goal by using the combination of the power stretcher with the knee kicker. The knee kicker is a necessary tool, but the real strength is offered by the power stretcher. The power stretcher comes is two primary types: the compacted power stretcher and the pole stretcher. Wolfe Flooring has both types. Both power stretching tools are heavy, steel, leaver-action tools. One end of the tool locks into the carpet nap and the other end braces in a stationary position against the wall or the tack strip that lines the walls. As the leaver goes down, the carpet is drawn towards the wall of our choosing. The knee kicker is then used for the detail work.

The end result is ultra tight carpet. In fact, the power stretcher is so robust that we can usually tighten the carpet under heavy furniture. Reinstallation
Reinstallations are very similar to restretches, except that the reinstallations assumes that part or all of the carpet has been dislodged from the tucking edges and that there may be open seams. Because of the similarity, it may prove helpful to read the sections entitled Power Stretch and Open Seam Repair. The need for a reinstallation is usually created by water damage or construction on the walls or subfloor.

Securing Carpet to a Hard Surface Threshold
The most critical areas of carpet are the thresholds. Thresholds can be where carpet in an room meets carpet in the hall which is addressed under Open Seam Repair. The second major type of threshold is where carpet meets a hard surface such as vinyl (a.k.a., linoleum), tile, marble or wood.

Spot Dyeing

Resilient Flooring Repairs - Sheet Vinyl and Vinyl Tiles
We sell and install the resilient flooring manufactured by BurkeMercer, Tarkett, Mannington, Armstrong and others. We also repair those goods when mishaps occur. Chipped or Broken Ceramic Tile and Stone
Unless you cover your marred tile with furniture, the eyesore stays in plain view. We can fix that concern if you can provide us with a placement piece.
